Day of the Devs has become an indie game showcase institution, looking to highlight games both big and small, expected and unexpected. It comes around twice a year, tying in with Summer Games Fest and The Game Awards, and this year’s pre-TGA 2024 show is packed with some great games.

Faraway by Little Eyes
Be a shooting star just trying to pass through the galaxy and connect up other pinpricks of light into constellations. There’s an endlessly replayable main mode, as well as two puzzle modes.

Demon Tides by Fabrazz
A successor to Demon Turf, Demon Tides is another 3D platformer that leans in on loads of character transformations for moves. These will let you really zip around the worlds very fast, using talismans to add new abilities, equipping up to 5 at a time.
Kingmakers by Redemption Road
Go back in time to medieval England but with modern weapons, trying to unite the country and save the world. Fight with machine guns in hand, but then build cities and castles, and use them as staging points to raise armies and conquer. There’s support for up to 4 player co-op, and it’s coming to PC in 2025.
Recur by AstraLogical
A puzzle game with just a little bit of Braid to it, Recur casts you as a postman looking to get past all manner of wild and explosive challenges, using the ability to wind time back and forth in sync with your movement from left to right, or right to left.
Blue Prince by Dogubomb
Say this one out loud. Blue Prince is a house-building puzzler, in which you fill out a 5×9 floorplan with unique rooms, trying to make it further and deeper through the grid to find room 46. It’s a real mind-bender, that’s for sure.
Incolatus Don’t Stop Girlypop! by Funny Fintan Softworks
Y2K girly pop is back in this luridly colourful shooter that’s about going as fast and over the top as possible. Bunny hop to go faster, and the faster you go the bigger your guns get and the more scopes they have. Oh and there’s a dressup metagame where you use different materials and colours to customise your arms… and just your arms.
LOK Digital by Letibus Design & Icedrop Game
The LOK puzzle book has been translated into a digital game, and it’s out now! Learn a new and completely made up language one work at a time by playing an invented language word search of sorts. Out today for PC and mobile next year.
Neon Abyss 2 by Veewo Games
A sequel to the 2020 roguelike run ‘n’ gunner, Neon Abyss 2 ramps everything up even further. Coming to Early Access in 2025.
Cresent County by Electric Saint
Hop on your motorbroom and work during the day before going undergroun motorbroom racing at night. Make deliveries, herd sheep, fix lay lines, and then use the money to trick out your broom, go racing, and flirt with your rivals.
The first play test is out now on Steam and itch.io.
PBJ – The Musical by Kami Box
A video game musical about peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, narrated by kids reading Shakespeare, featuring art made of real cut out paper collages, and music by Britain’s Got Talent 2015 semi-finalist Lorraine Bowen!
Curiosmos – Céline & the Silly Stars

A side-scrolling platforming adventure in the vein of Limbo and its ilk, Bionic Bay’s hook is your growing ability to shift gravity and power, control time, teleport and swap places with objects, run around with clones, and so much more.
This is coming to PS5 and PC on 13th March 2025.
Inkobini by Nagai Industries
Stock the shelves at a small town convenience store in Japan. You can pick up every item, move things around however you like, and get to learn a little bit about the patrons by what they buy and how they react to, for example, you putting bread in the fridge.
Feltopia by Wooly Games
A fully hand-felted stop motion shoot ’em up that works in reverse. You’re not trying to blow up enemies, but blast their blackened husks back into life, turning them into butterflied, for example. Blast your way through to save the Rainbow Flock and gain their abilities. You can wishlist now with the game set for 2026.

Tankhead by Alpha Channel

Head out into the ECA quarantine zone and fight for survival against enemy vehicles, chipping away at their armour to blast weakspots, while trying to hide and shield your own.
