It’s the actual day of Black Friday 2024, but let’s be honest, most of the sales have been going on for at least a week, and they’re maybe not so great this year? Still, tech savvy gamers will be scouring the internet today for the best deals on games, accessories and upgrades for their gaming hobby, and now’s also a good chance to get in some Christmas shopping, if you already know what you’re getting someone.
We’ve cruised around the internet to find some of the best UK Black Friday deals on PS5 games, accessories and SSD upgrades.
Get the PS5 DualSense for just £36
The PS5 DualSense controller has been officially reduced to £45 by Sony, but you can get it for £36 instead. ShopTo is a part of eBay’s Black Friday promotion – use code BLACKFRIDAY20 for 20% off the listed price – which brings that £45 down to just £36. This is actually a bargain when the RRP is £60! You’ll want to be quick
You can also get the DualSense Edge at £170, vs. Sony’s sale price of £190
- Get a DualSense for £35.99 with ShopTo via eBay using code BLACKFRIDAY20 – Red, Pink, Blue & Grey Camo only
- Get the DualSense Edge for £170 with ShopTo via eBay using code BLACKFRIDAY20
Add some PS5 storage with these SSDs
Are you feeling a bit constrained by the storage space you have in the PS5? Well PS5 compatible 1TB and 2TB SSDs are pretty economical these days, thanks to the wealth of chipsets and brands getting in on the game. It helps that console gaming basically just needs good read speeds, so you can get away with DRAM-less drives and lower endurance on writes.
We’ve highlighted the Netac NV7000, a very cheap drive most likely based on the InnoGrit controller, MSI Spatium M482 and Corsair MP600 both using the Phison E27T chipset, and the in-house controllers and designs from Crucial and Western Digital – the SN850X is still one of the most highly regarded NVMe drives.
All offers are available on Amazon were, if needed, you can grab a cheap but effective heatsink for under £7.
PS5 compatible 2TB SSD offers
- MSI Spatium M482 2TB for £90 without heatsink (on back order)
- Netac NV7000 1TB for £98.26 with heatsink (apply 5% voucher)
- Crucial T500 2TB for £99.99 without heatsink
- WD SN850X 2TB for £119.99 without heatsink
PS5 compatible 1TB SSD offers
- Netac NV7000 1TB for £52.79 with heatsink
- Crucial T500 1TB for £57.99 without heatsink
- WD SN850X 1TB for £69.99 without heatsink
- Corsair MP600 Elite 1TB for £74.99 with heatspreader
Top up on PS Plus with up to 30% off this Black Friday
There’s “up to 30% off” the three PlayStation Plus 12 month subscription tiers – that’s across Essential, Extra or Premium – and current subscribers can also discounts when upgrading to a higher tier. These deals aren’t as good as in years gone by, but here are the new prices through 2nd December:
- PlayStation Plus Essential 12 months – £48
- PlayStation Plus Extra 12 months – £75
- PlayStation Plus Premium 12 months – £84
You can make this cheaper by using PS Store gift cards – at best, a £40 gift card is £34 (15% off), or £70 is £59.50 (15% off) from ShopTo, cutting a good few quid more off the price.
Grab some PS5 games on disc
Remember discs? Shiny on the one side, printy on the other? Sure, you can obviously check out the PlayStation Store digital sale this Black Friday, but it’s still often better value to go and grab some of the spinny ones.
There’s pretty healthy discounts on a broad spectrum of games, including Star Wars Outlaws under £35, Helldivers 2 for £20, Dragon’s Dogam 2 for £33 and more. In all these cases, you’re saving at least £5 by getting physical, and usually a whole lot more.
Here’s what we’ve spotted:
- Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 – £35.99 at Amazon, £37.99 at Argos
- Helldivers 2 – £19.99 at Currys, £21.49 at Amazon, £21.49 at Argos, £21.49 at John Lewis

Get 4 months of free Apple TV+ at Currys
If you’re weighing up buying a game or accessory from Currys, then know that they’re also giving 4 months of Apple TV+ with every online purchase (new and returning customers only, and that have not redeemed a similar Apple services offer with Currys in the past).
Get better sound with a gaming headset
This one’s basically essential for any horror game fan, but a gaming headset can really accentuate the experience across all games, thanks to PS5’s built in spatial audio.
The Sony Pulse Gaming Earbuds are reduced to £140 at Smyths Toys, while their newer Pulse Elite headset is £100 at Smyths if you prefer over ear cans.
If you’re looking for something a bit more budget friendly, then the new design Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 is a solid shout is £57 at Amazon, £58 at Argos or £60 at Currys (with that Apple TV+ offer)
And looking a bit up market, the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 range is their upper-mid tier headset. We’d recommend the 7X, which supports Xbox consoles officially, but also has compatibility with PlayStation using the USB dongle, but you might dislike the green accents, so you might prefer the all-black Nova 7 headset or the blue accented Nova 7P. It’s now available for £110 at Amazon, or £129 at Steelseries.
